How to dry laterite nickel ore?

   Nickel ore is an important raw material for producing batteries and stainless steel. However, with the resources of sulfide nickel ore decreasing, currently the nickel ore primarily comes from laterite nickel ore. Laterite nickel ore has a high moisture content, sames like wet mud, whether it is for transportation or local utilization, drying is an indispensable step. So, how to dry laterite nickel ore?

  The drying of laterite nickel ore requires a large, continuous rotary dryer system to meet the demands of large-scale industrial production. Since nickel ore itself is acidic, so the places where the equipment in contact with the raw material should be corrosion-resistant and rust-proof designs to extend its service life. Additionally, due to laterite nickel ore has a certain viscosity, the drum must be equipped with lifting and dispersing systems to prevent material agglomeration. These designs will increase the contact area between the material and hot air, making materials fully dry improving thermal efficiency.

  The process flow of the laterite nickel ore dryer: The wet laterite nickel ore slurry is evenly fed into the drum through the feeding system. As the drum rotates, the material is repeatedly thrown up and dropped, dispersed by the built-in lifting plates, and fully contacts with the hot air generated by the hot blast furnace, allowing moisture to evaporate until the desired moisture level is achieved. The dried laterite nickel ore is then discharged through the unloading system for further processing. The dryer offers flexible heat source options, supporting biomass fuel, oil, gas, and other forms, enabling the selection of the most economical heat source based on local conditions to reduce operational costs.
